Outdoor Omada hotspot billing in Tanzania
Use Shumnet's Omada integration to connect the outdoor network with your Wi-Fi business dashboard. Confirm the exact access-point model, hardware version, firmware and controller configuration before purchasing or migrating equipment.
Three parts of a working installation
- Internet and local network: a working internet connection, router or hub, and a tested Ethernet path to the first access point.
- Outdoor access points: correct power supplies, mounting, outdoor cabling where needed and positions chosen after a site survey.
- Controller and portal: an Omada controller that can reach the devices and a captive portal configured for the correct Shumnet site.
Choose equipment for the location
EAP225-Outdoor, EAP610-Outdoor and EAP650-Outdoor are models to discuss with Shumnet for an outdoor deployment. Their appearance in a product catalogue does not mean every hardware and firmware combination has been tested. Send the exact model and version for confirmation.
For a mesh deployment, confirm that each chosen model supports the required mesh configuration. Every access point still needs power. The root access point needs the upstream connection; mesh links share radio capacity and should be measured at busy times.
Coverage: measure usable service
Distance on a product advertisement is not a guarantee of service inside houses. Walls, roofs, trees, antenna placement, interference and a phone's return signal all affect the connection.
Walk the actual customer area and test the portal, download, upload and reconnection. Record where service works reliably and where another access point or a different position is needed. Distinguish seeing the Wi-Fi name from having usable internet.
Before accepting customer payments
- Verify that the access point appears online in the controller and is attributed to the correct business site.
- Open the captive portal from a new phone with no saved Wi-Fi session.
- Complete a small real purchase or voucher redemption and verify the correct duration and device allowance.
- Test expiry and revocation, then check recovery after a controlled power interruption.
- Check that the sales record and the customer's package match.
Common questions
Does mesh remove the need for power?
No. Each access point needs a suitable power source even when its network link is wireless.
Is the Wi-Fi name appearing enough to confirm service?
No. Test internet access and the captive-portal journey on customer devices.
Can I manage the business from my phone?
The dashboard is accessed through a browser. Confirm controller access and test the actions you need before handing over the site.
