Shumnet

Wi-Fi billing system for Tanzania

Shumnet brings Wi-Fi packages, vouchers, customer access and sales reporting into one business dashboard. It is built for operators who want to sell internet access and manage their outdoor network remotely.

From a Wi-Fi connection to a business

A paid hotspot needs more than a strong signal. Customers need a clear way to choose access, operators need to know what was sold, and the network needs to apply the selected package. Shumnet provides the billing and management layer; your internet provider supplies the connection.

Keep the internet service, network hardware and Shumnet subscription as separate costs when planning your business. A billing platform does not create additional internet capacity or guarantee coverage inside nearby houses.

What you can manage

  • Packages: define the access customers buy, including duration and the supported package limits.
  • Vouchers: create and manage codes for selling Wi-Fi access.
  • Customers: review purchases and access information from the business dashboard.
  • Sales: review transactions and reports rather than relying on handwritten totals.
  • Outdoor networks: onboard access points and review network information through the Omada integration.

How customers get access

The customer connects to the configured Wi-Fi network and opens its captive portal. The available purchase or voucher options depend on the site's configuration. After successful authorization, the customer uses the access allowed by their package.

Before launching a site, test a real customer journey: open the portal, buy or redeem access, reconnect, reach the package limit and confirm expiry. Payment options must be enabled and tested for that business; do not assume every payment method is available at every site.

Choose capacity before you grow

The number of access points allowed by your subscription and the number of concurrent users are business limits, not promises about radio performance. Busy-hour speed also depends on the internet connection, interference, client devices and access-point placement.

Start with one surveyed location. Measure demand and actual sales before buying equipment for additional locations. Use the pricing and setup guides below to prepare a realistic first site.

Common questions

Is Shumnet an internet provider?

Shumnet supplies Wi-Fi billing and management tools. Your site still needs an internet service and permission to use that service for your intended business.

Can I sell vouchers?

Shumnet includes voucher management. Confirm your packages and voucher settings, then test redemption at the live site.

Do I need a computer running at my shop?

The business dashboard is accessed online. The Omada network still needs a configured controller; confirm the hosted-controller arrangement with Shumnet during onboarding.
